A mob of religious fanatics assaults a doctor in Assam after the death of a Covid patient

Guwahati (Assam) – After the death of a Covid patient in a Covid Care Centre in Assam’s Hojai District, a mob of religious fanatics, said to be friends and relatives of the deceased, assaulted Dr. Seuj Kumar, and ransacked the Medical Centre. In a viral video of the incident, a woman is also seen along with the mob. Police have arrested 24 persons including the woman involved in the case. IMA has appealed to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah to protect front line workers and punish such miscreants strictly. Calling the attack barbaric, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that he is personally monitoring the investigation and assured full justice to the victim.
