Bengal Minister Jakir Hossain injured in a bomb attack

More than 20 Trinamool Congress activists injured

The ministers of the ruling Trinamool Congress government in Bengal are themselves unsafe, which reveals the state of law and (dis)order there.  A democracy with such a government is shameful for the public.

Murshidabad (Bengal) – Jakir Hossain, Minister of State in the Trinamool Congress government, suffered a major leg injury in a bomb attack targetting him. He has been hospitalised for treatment.  Hossain was earlier associated with the Congress, and jumped ship to the Trinamool Congress. The Trinamool Congress has accused the BJP of orchestrating the attack. A few days ago a BJP leader was attacked with crude bombs and bullets.

  • Hossain and his party workers were reportedly waiting at platform no 2 of the Nimtita station to board a train to Kolkata at around 10 pm when they were attacked. The police are trying to identify the attackers from the CCTV footage.
  • Police is also trying to find out the motive behind this attack. According to Trinamool Congress sources, Hossain had given a written complaint to the government against animal trafficking in Murshidabad. There was also a dispute with the merchants there. This could possibly be the reason for this attack. Hossain had earlier expressed fears of being attacked over this.
  • BJP state president Dilip Ghosh lashed out the central government saying, “This shows that West Bengal is not safe even for ministers. The law and order has totally failed.”

Life attempt on Hossain – CM Mamata Banerjee

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged that this was an attempt to assassinate Hossain. There can be controversy in democracy; but how can one indulge in murder? The central government is responsible for this attack. (Hundreds of BJP workers have died in the last few years due to attacks on them. Mamata Banerjee should also answer who is responsible for this. – Editor, Sanatan Prabhat)

On the other hand, Murshidabad Zilla Parishad President Musharraf Hossain, who was dropped from the Trinamool Congress, claimed that the attack was the result of an internal dispute.
