Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Vadra participate

New Delhi – The Congress party staged a sit-in protest near the residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP Priyanka Vadra, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and other Congress leaders were present on the occasion. Notably, as the area is sensitive from a security point of view, protests are not permitted there. Therefore, the police arrived to remove the Congress leaders and workers; however, the Congress workers remained there. The Congress had made preparations for the protest in complete secrecy, without informing anyone. Taking action against the sudden protest, the police detained several leaders, including Charanjit Singh Channi. Despite this, the protest continued there.

Court orders Sonam Wangchuk to be shifted to another hospital
The Delhi High Court ordered that Sonam Wangchuk be shifted from Safdarjung Hospital to Medanta Hospital. The Court said that a panel of doctors from Medanta would be formed for his treatment. The Court passed this order after a petition was filed by Wangchuk’s wife, Geetanjali Angmo. Wangchuk has been on hunger strike for 24 days. On July 20, he had said that after witnessing the cruelty of the police, he would continue his hunger strike. (More than 115 police personnel were injured in the violence perpetrated by the protesters, and police and private vehicles were vandalised. Is this not cruelty ? Does Wangchuk consider it Gandhian non-violence ? – Editor)
