Chennai – A few months ago Christian missionaries constructed a burial ground just near the Rajagopuram of Shri Uchchishta Vinayagar Temple, considered to be 1,200-years-old. They have also started burying the dead there. This place can later be transformed into a church too. Temple lands might also have been illegally usurped. About 150 Hindu families are living here. This is considered to be the biggest Vinayagar Temple in the whole of Asia, situated in 8 acres land. Daily Puja rituals are conducted in the Temple which is under the HR & CE.

Even after complaints were registered with the HR & CE they have not taken any action. There is hardly 10 metres distance between the Temple and this burial ground. There is no approval from the Government for the burial ground. Yet, no action is being taken by the Collector’s office. The landowners threaten the devotees with the help of goons. There is an unholy nexus between these intruders and Government officials involving bribery with money.
