Ekta Kapoor apologises for hurting sentiments after AltBalaji webshow uses the name ‘Ahilyabai’

Since Deities, national heros, defence forces, etc. are being repeatedly insulted in webshows, it is necessary to censor them. The Government should legislate an Act for this purpose as soon as possible.

Mumbai – Producer Ekta Kapoor has said sorry after the use of the name ‘Ahilyabai’ in her show ‘Virgin Bhasskar 2’ that offended certain sections of society. She said that she is not involved with the show creatively but is apologising on behalf of the team.

There is a scene in an ALTBalaji show ‘Virgin Bhasskar 2’, which depicts a hostel named ‘Ahilyabai’. This has offended a certain sections of society. Ekta Kapoor said that the scene has been deleted from the show, adding that no disrespect was meant to anybody. “A name has been used which in no way insinuates disrespect to any specific individual, let alone an iconic leader”, she added.

Earlier it was reported that Bhushansingh Raje Holkar, a descendant of Ahilyabai Holkar, had taken umbrage at the use of the name and written a letter to the production house and demanded that the scene be removed and an apology tendered.

Ekta went on to say, “We have the highest regard for the rich legacy of our Maratha leaders”.
