People from a village, ‘China Junction’, in Kerala want to rename their village’s Chinese name

Nehru had coined this village the name ‘China Junction’ in the year 1952

• Since past 6 decades, an Indian village having an enemy country’s name even after Independence is a shame to the all the Governments.
• With the Left and Congress alliance in Kerala’s politics, one should not be surprised if they oppose changing the village’s enemy country’s name.

Pathanamthitta (Kerala) – As the 20 soldiers martyred by China on India-China border, the agitated people from a village called ‘China Junction’ have decided to change their village’s Chinese name.

In year 1952, when Nehru had come here to campaign for Lok Sabha election he was welcomed by a huge crowd with red flags in their hands. Nehru asked his party worker, ‘is this the China Junction ?’  Since then, this village is called as China Junction (Chinamukku).

Konni Panchayat Vice-President Praveen Plavilayil has proposed to rename the village. Panchayat President M Rajani said that ‘the decision to change the name will be taken in the Gram Sabha and necessary recommendation will be sent to the State Government.’ This Gram Panchayat has a majority of Congress-led United Democratic Front. It has 12 members out of a total of 18. Five members are from CPI (M), while one member is an independent. Hence this village can be renamed as ‘Nehru Junction’, ‘Bharat Junction’ or ‘Jawan Junction’. (Village to be named as ‘Nehru Junction’ is like boosting family dynasty. For cringing Congress, the Gandhi-Nehru family is more valuable than our Country’s pride, this is not surprising at all ! -Editor)
