Religious fanatics in Haryana’s Mewat attack Mahant Ramdas of Muktidham Ashram

A threat by attackers ‘How troublesome are these Sadhus, just burn and kill them’ The local Police refuse to register an offence

When Haryana is ruled by the BJP Government, Hindus do not expect such incidents. The Government should take immediate cognisance of the incident and order action against the accused. It should also ensure that the accused are stringently punished and Mahants are provided with adequate security.

Mewat (Haryana) – Mahant Ramdas of Muktidham Ashram in Haryana’s Mewat was attacked when a mob of religious fanatics beat him up on 29^th April and also threatened to kill him. The mob also threatened Mahant ‘How troublesome are these Sadhus, just burn and kill them’.

When Mahant Ramdas went to the Police to file an FIR, the Police refused. When OpIndia reached out to the Police, Punhana Thana SHO directed them to talk to the headquarters regarding the case. He also claimed that no such incident has taken place. The Hindu organisations are saying that the Police are trying to avoid filing an FIR and getting Mahant Ramdas and the accused to talk over it and sort it out. (An inquiry should be conducted against such Policemen and action should be taken against them. If such Policemen exist all over, how Saints and Sages would be protected in the country ? – Editor)

There is anger among people regarding the incident in Punhana as well as neighbouring areas like Pinganwa, Nagina, Firozepur Zirka, Nuh, Faridabad, Palval and Hodal. A complaint has been given to the local city Police chowki. Religious and social organisations condemned the incident and demanded a fair probe by the Police. Hindus demanded a fair probe and inquiry in the above incident otherwise they would be constrained to start an agitation.
