Bahraich (Uttar Pradesh) – Personnel of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and the Police arrested Bikramjit Singh, a fugitive associated with the Khalistani separatist organisation ‘Waris Punjab De’, and U.S. Sikh citizen Manbir Singh Dhillon, who was attempting to enter India without a visa, at the India–Nepal border in Bahraich. A total of five people, including three local people who assisted in the entire operation, have been arrested in connection with the case.
Bikramjit Singh is a resident of Rupnagar in Punjab. He had long been wanted in connection with the violence at the Ajnala Police Station in Punjab in February 2023 and a case registered under Section 307.
Manbir Singh Dhillon is originally from Moga in Punjab and is a U.S. citizen. He did not possess a valid Indian visa. Bikramjit was bringing him across the border through an illegal route. Dhillon was accompanied by his wife, Rayleen Alexander Dhillon, and their eight-month-old daughter. As their documents were found to be in order, they were allowed to enter India as per the rules. Local smuggler Suresh Kumar Pathak, Dilip Upadhyay and driver Rahul Kumar, who assisted in this illegal infiltration, were also arrested.
