Tirthahalli (Karnataka) – Congress leaders have allegedly looted money from the hundis of the Hazrat Sayyad Sadat Dargah at Hangere, the Mallikarjun Temple at Mrugavadhe and the Rameshwar Temple at Tirthahalli. BJP MLA Araga Gyanendra has made the serious allegation that they resorted to various tactics to obtain ₹18 lakh from the account of the Government’s Muzrai Department, which oversees temples in the State. He was speaking at a press conference here.

Serious allegations made by MLA Gyanendra !
1. Seven tall lights have been installed each at the dargah and temple at Hangere and Mrugavadhe, respectively, while 3 tall lights have been installed at the Rameshwar Temple. Congress leaders allegedly withdrew money from the temple’s Muzrai Department account, claiming that they would get funds for the work approved by the Government. A bill of ₹4.5 lakh was prepared for lights that cost ₹1.2 lakh.
2. Until now, no Sub-Divisional Officer, Tahsildar or Muzrai clerk had drawn a salary from the Muzrai account. However, the officers who have now taken charge have withdrawn money from this account in the name of salaries.
