‘Hope India, the world’s largest democracy, will pay attention to the problems of its people !’ : B’desh Govt

Bangladesh Government’s empty statement on the protest at Jantar Mantar

Dhaka (Bangladesh) – We have heard about the ongoing student protest in India. The Bangladesh Government wishes that peace and stability should prevail in our region. Our Government hopes that India, the world’s largest democracy, will pay attention to the problems of its people and take immediate steps to defuse the situation, said Bangladesh’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid, while reacting to the ongoing protest by so-called students at Jantar Mantar. On the other hand, the Pakistan Government has tried to avoid commenting on the protests in Delhi.

Several student organisations in Bangladesh have expressed their support for these protests. Apart from Pakistan and Bangladesh, the media in Sri Lanka and Nepal have also given prominent coverage to the youth-led protests in India.

Editorial Perspective

What could be a bigger joke than the government of a country where democracy has been torn to shreds several times, and where so-called students resorted to violence just 2 years ago, advising India ?
