Dhaka (Bangladesh) – Sejuti, an innocent 8-year-old Hindu girl who was abducted two days ago from Sakhipur in Bangladesh’s Tangail district, has been murdered. On 22 June, Police recovered her body from a municipal pond in Sakhipur. The girl’s family has alleged that the kidnappers demanded a ransom of 3 lakh taka (₹2.31 lakh) over the telephone on the night of 21 June in exchange for her release. They claim that the abductors killed her after failing to receive the ransom money.

1. On 20 June, Sejuti, a Class II student living in the Mandirpara area of Sakhipur, suddenly disappeared from outside her home in the evening.

2. Her family searched for her extensively but found no trace of her. Subsequently, her father, Falu Chandra Malu, lodged a missing-person complaint at the Sakhipur Police Station.

3. On 21 June, news of the abduction spread across social media, increasing tension in the area. Later that night, the family received a ransom call. Just a few hours after the demand was made, the girl’s body was found floating in a pond on the morning of 22 June.

4. Police have sent the body for post-mortem examination and further investigation is underway.
