CPI(M) workers indulge in hooliganism at toll plaza by refusing to pay toll; flee after breaking temporary barrier

Mangaluru (Karnataka) – Workers of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] indulged in hooliganism at the National Highways Authority of India toll plaza at Brahmarakutlu in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district. A private bus carrying party workers was stopped by toll plaza employees. In response, the bus driver and the workers argued with the employees, after which the driver sped the bus forward, broke the temporary boom barrier at the toll plaza and fled.

Subsequently, several other vehicles carrying CPI(M) workers that were behind the bus also drove through the toll plaza in a similar manner, damaging the infrastructure. The entire incident was captured on the toll plaza’s CCTV cameras.

Editorial Perspective

Can any expectation of public welfare be placed on a party whose workers display such hooligan behaviour ?
