SIT submits preliminary report to Govt in Shriram temple donation irregularities probe

Recommends registration of a crime and restructuring of the temple trust

Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh) – The Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to investigate the theft of donations at Shriram temple has submitted its preliminary investigation report to the State government. The report was submitted to Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department Sanjay Prasad. The report is150 pages long. It contains details of the interrogation of 150 people. The team has sought more time for a detailed report. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will take a decision on this report.

SIT has recommended registering a case, restructuring of Shriram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, appointing a senior officer as the CEO of the temple, and auditing the donations of the last 5 years. Instructions have been given to prevent irregularities in donations.

Possible theft of Rs 200 crore

Rs 2 crore has been recovered based on the information from five suspects, namely Lavkush, Avnish, Anukalp, Karune and Ramshankar alias Tinnu. In addition, gold was recovered from the house of Tinnu, who is a close aide of Champat Rai. According to preliminary estimates, the theft could be worth more than Rs 200 crore.
