Pamphlets promoting Christianity displayed in Harbour Railway trains

Mumbai – Pamphlets promoting Christianity and attempting to attract passengers have been found pasted inside air-conditioned local trains operating on the Harbour Railway route between Panvel and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. The pamphlets contain emotionally charged messages aimed at individuals facing mental or emotional distress, with headlines such as “Need a Lifeline?”, “Jesus is God”, and “You Were Made to Be Loved”. The material promotes the message that “only Jesus can save you” by appealing to personal difficulties such as unemployment, family problems and mental exhaustion.

An apparent attempt is being made to draw passengers in under the pretext of providing further information by displaying the website address “ThisLoveStory.org”.

Dr Swapnil Nila, Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway, said, “If anyone is seen putting up such pamphlets, citizens should immediately inform the Railway administration. Appropriate action will be taken if anyone is found responsible in this matter.”

Editorial Perspective

  • Please take a note of Christian conspiracy to carry out religious conversions through the Railway system. The individuals responsible should be identified immediately and action should be taken against them.
  • Permission from the Railway administration is required to display advertisements inside trains. How could such pamphlets be put up without obtaining permission? Are the Railway Protection Force and the Railway administration asleep ?
