Muslim man arrested after devout Hindus staged a protest !

Sit-in protest by Hindutva activists in front of the Bhatkal police station.

Bhatkal (Karnataka) – A Muslim salesman working in a commercial complex attempted to abduct a Hindu girl employed in the same complex. The attempt was foiled due to the alertness of devout Hindu activists. However, instead of taking action against the Muslim man, the police registered a case against the devout Hindu activists. Subsequently, after pressure was mounted by them, the police arrested the Muslim man.

1. A Hindu girl from the Marukeri area was working in a commercial complex in the city. Shahid Khan, a resident of Kargadde, was employed as a salesman in the same complex.

2. On 17 June, Khan told the girl, “I need to speak to you urgently, let us go outside”, and forcibly made her sit in a car and drove rapidly towards Sagar.

3. Noticing the car moving suspiciously towards an isolated area on the Sagar road, activists of a Hindu organisation immediately intercepted it. They rescued the girl and caught Shahid Khan and handed him over to the police.

4. Instead of taking any action against the accused Shahid Khan, the police registered a case against the two Hindu activists who had rescued the girl. This action of the police created tension in the area.

5. Condemning the biased stand of the police, BJP workers and activists of various Hindu organisations gathered in front of the Bhatkal City Police Station on the night of 17 June and staged a sit-in protest.

6. As the intensity of the protest increased, the police, jolted into action, began an investigation. The victim herself came to the police station and submitted a written complaint against Shahid Khan. In her complaint, she stated, “I was forcibly confined in a car against my will.”

7. As soon as the girl’s complaint was registered, the police arrested Shahid Khan.
