Investigation reveals brokers helped Bangladeshi infiltrators enter Bengal!

  • Many had cast votes multiple times

  • Special Intensive Revision exposed their status as infiltrators

Kolkata (Bengal) – Following the BJP government’s directive to identify and deport Bangladeshi infiltrators in Bengal, many Bangladeshis have begun returning voluntarily. When questioned how they entered India, several stated that they crossed rivers to enter the country. Some said that middlemen helped them cross the border under the cover of darkness. One individual claimed that “it takes barely 10 minutes to enter India during periods when security forces are not patrolling.”

Several migrants also claimed that workers of the Trinamool Congress helped them obtain Indian identity documents. They said that this enabled them to avail themselves of government welfare schemes and cast votes. Following the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral rolls, their documents were cancelled, exposing their status as infiltrators. With the BJP government expected to initiate deportation measures, many are now returning to Bangladesh on their own.

Infiltration facilitated through paid brokers

A carpenter from Kushtia District said that infiltrators pay brokers 7 to 8 thousand to monitor the movements of Border Security Force personnel at night and arrange border crossings when patrols are away. Another infiltrator said that he managed to cross the border after paying twenty thousand to a trafficking network, despite the deployment of security personnel along the frontier.

Trinamool Congress Government provided welfare benefits!

Some migrant women said that during the tenure of Mamata Banerjee’s government, they obtained voter identity cards and ration cards.  With the assistance of Trinamool Congress workers, they also received benefits under the Lakshmi Bhandar scheme for two to three years.

Editorial Perspective

  • A treason case should be registered against the Trinamool Congress for assisting infiltrators,
  • and the party should be banned.
