‘Cockroach Janata Party’s X account banned in India

Campaign was launched to oppose the Chief Justice's statement

New Delhi – Some people have begun protesting and taking advantage of remarks made a few days ago by Chief Justice Surya Kant, in which unemployed youths were referred to as “cockroaches”. In view of the growing opposition, the Chief Justice later issued a clarification stating that his remarks had been misinterpreted. However, to protest against his statement, a foreign resident named Abhijit Dipke opened an account on X called ‘Cockroach Janata Party’. Through this account, sarcastic criticism was directed at the BJP government, Indian democracy, the judiciary, and related matters. Within just six days, the account had gained 1,93,000 followers. The account has now been banned.

X said that the action was taken on the basis of local regulations in India, court orders and legal complaints. The logo of the Cockroach Janata Party published describes it as ‘Secular, Socialist, Democratic, Lazy’.

Editorial Perspective

Such an account, which tarnishes Indian democracy, should be banned not only in India but everywhere in the world. For this, the Ministry of External Affairs and Information Technology of India should put pressure on X.
