A terrorist who had returned radicalized from Saudi Arabia had formed a jihadi gang!

Bengaluru (Karnataka) – A special court of the National Investigation Agency in Bengaluru sentenced terrorist Hamraj Sheikh, associated with the terrorist organization Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, to 7 years’ imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹63,000. Hamraj Sheikh is originally a resident of Maharashtra. In October 2023, the agency had also filed a chargesheet against his associate Mohammad Arif. His trial is currently underway.

1. During the period from 2019 to 2022, while residing in Saudi Arabia, Hamraj Sheikh came into contact with the Taliban and Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, where he became radicalized. Along with another terrorist, Mohammad Arif, he formed a ‘jihadi gang’. Through this group, Muslim youths in India were being indoctrinated and radicalized. They had formed an online jihadi recruitment network using social media.

2. These terrorists had allegedly planned to recruit Muslim youths, send them to Afghanistan for terrorist training, collect funds for extremist activities, and wage jihad against India. The two had also established a terrorist gang along with plans to join Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan in Afghanistan.

Editorial Perspective

It is necessary to enact a law awarding the death penalty to every terrorist; otherwise, there is no doubt that such terrorists, once released after serving their sentences, will again engage in destructive activities!
