Guwahati (Assam): “The use of loudspeakers during Azaan should be limited!” – Demand by newly elected BJP MLA Diganta Kalita (@diganta68)
Why should citizens and public representatives repeatedly have to raise this issue?

He stated
That he has been residing in the MLA quarters for the past five years. Azaan is broadcast over loudspeakers five times a day from dawn till evening from a nearby mosque. He said the high volume causes considerable inconvenience to the residents there. Kalita added that he is thoroughly studying court rulings and legal provisions related to the matter and will soon place the entire issue before the Assam government. Faith has its place, but loudspeakers are not necessary for it. The inconvenience caused to others by this should be stopped,” he said.
MLA Kalita clarified that he is not opposed to Azaan itself; his objection is only to the excessive sound from the loudspeakers.
