New Delhi – Union Textile Minister and BJP leader Giriraj Singh stated on ‘X’ that “if not today, then tomorrow, MP Asaduddin Owaisi will accept that he is a Hindu.”
Instead of directly responding to the statement, Owaisi raised issues related to the textile industry. He said that the increasing prices of cotton yarn in the country are severely affecting handloom workers and small weavers. According to him, while fabric prices in the market have remained stable, the cost of raw materials has continued to rise, putting immense pressure on small-scale industries. Owaisi further stated that many handloom units are on the verge of closure and that a large number of jobs are at risk. He urged the government to impose a ban on the export of cotton yarn so that prices in the domestic market can remain under control. He also demanded the removal of import duty on raw cotton to provide relief to the textile industry.
