Kanpur (UP) – A major uproar erupted after a Muslim teacher assaulted a sixth-grade student who came to school with a tilak on his forehead in Naubasta, Uttar Pradesh. The victim’s parents called the Police. The Police tried to mediate after hearing both sides; however, the parents remained firm on demanding action. After this, the Police sent them to the Police station.

What exactly is the matter?

1. The son of an edible oil trader from Damodar Nagar studies in Class 6 at ‘Mother Teresa Mission Higher Secondary School’ in Kidwai Nagar.

2. The student alleged that he comes to school every day wearing a tilak on his forehead, because of which the Muslim teacher would repeatedly scold him. On 12 May, she slapped him 3–4 times.

3. When school ended in the afternoon, the father arrived at the school to pick up his son, and the boy narrated the entire incident. The parents became furious over the incident. The father alleged that he complained to the school management, but they refused to listen. Instead, they blamed the boy for not completing his homework. Following this, the father informed the Police.

4. Police officer Bahadur Singh said that information had been received regarding the assault of the student in the school; however, no written complaint has yet been received. He said that if a complaint is received, an investigation will be conducted and action will be taken.

5. School principal Dr Beena Sayles said that she would investigate the matter, and if the allegations against the teacher are found to be true, action will be taken against her.
