Shameless statement by Congress-ruled Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah
Also shamelessly stated that he has no objection to ministers consuming alcohol

Bengaluru, Karnataka – While speaking at a programme in Bengaluru, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said, “Nowadays most people consume alcohol. Even ministers in my Cabinet drink alcohol. Personally, I have no objection to drinking.”
The Chief Minister further said,
“Alcohol consumption should remain merely a hobby; however, it should not become an addiction that takes away a person’s self-control. (One never realises when drinking as a hobby turns into addiction. Therefore, it is inappropriate for rulers to give such self-destructive advice ! – Editor) There are references even in the Puranas to Deities consuming alcohol.”
Recalling old memories on the occasion, he referred to a discussion once held in Parliament. Mentioning the debate that “Milk is supplied from villages to cities, while whisky and brandy are sent from cities to villages,” he expressed displeasure over the growing influence of alcohol in rural areas. (On one hand, Siddaramaiah expresses concern over the growing influence of alcohol, while on the other, he claims to have no objection to drinking — a clear indication of double standards ! – Editor)
