Hindu Teacher Expelled by Headmistress for Opposing to Conversion

Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh) – Sister Lucy, the Headmistress of St Theresa Academy located in Santpura lane-6 in Modinagar area of the city has been accused of persecuting Hindu students and staff to adopt Christianity by Aruna Goswami,  a PT (physical training) teacher of the school. She has been expelled from the job for opposing to conversion. Aruna Goswami has filed a complaint with the Modinagar Police Station demanding action. On 05.05.2026, devout Hindu organisations staged demonstrations in front of the school raising slogans. They also wrote ‘Jai Shriram’ at the entrance of the school and recited Hanuman Chalisa. The agitators demanded cancellation of the school’s licence and immediate arrest of the headmistress. The school gate has been closed down and a large number of Police force has been deployed considering the situation.

Aruna Goswami has mentioned in her complaint –

1. I am working in St Teresa Academy as a PT teacher since 2012. My son Shiv Goswami also studies in this school.

2. Sister Lucy took over as a new headmistress of the school two years back and the whole atmosphere in the school has changed. The religious thread tied by Hindu students on wrists are forcibly cut. Every Sunday, poor Hindu students are lured with money and taken to church in a bus and are converted there.

3. Teachers are also forced to go to church along with the students after the school. Celebration of Hindu festivals is banned in the school. Parents are abused and  ill-treated in the office of the headmistress.

4. On 04.05.2026, headmistress sister Lucy called me in her office and asked me to remove the tattooed words ‘Bhagavan Mahadev’ on my hand and remove the ‘bindi’ from forehead. She clearly told me that only Christian customs will be followed in the school. She dismissed me from the job when I opposed.

5. I didn’t go to church and my son Shiv didn’t remove the holy thread from his wrist; therefore, we were continuously mentally harassed. He was kept in the hostel. He fell ill there and he was also expelled from the school.

All accusations have been refuted by the headmistress

Sister Lucy, the headmistress has claimed all allegations against her as baseless. She stated that all religions are respected in her school and all religious festivals of non-Christians are also celebrated in the school. The PT teacher was warned once or twice due to the complaints received from the parents; but all the accusations made by her are false. She also claimed that the boy was not expelled from the school but his father has applied for the school leaving certificate.

Editorial Perspective

• It is a known fact that Hindu children are misguided about Hindu Dharma by schools tun by the Christian institutions; therefore, the Government should take initiative and ban such schools.
• Such incidents have been exposed every day for the past several years; still, why no action has been taken at the central level to put curb ? Now, Hindus need to put pressure on the Government on this issue.
