Kolkata (Bengal) – There was no violence during the voting in Bengal; however, violence has broken out in many places in the State after the election results were declared. On the night of May 5, a mob bulldozed the Trinamool Congress office in the Hogg Market area of ​​Kolkata. Locals have claimed that this office was built on illegally acquired land. In another incident, BJP worker Madhu Mondal was beaten up by Trinamool Congress supporters in New Town. He died in the assault. Attacks were also carried out on the houses of BJP workers in many places. There is also news of the death of a BJP worker in Howrah. His wife has accused Trinamool Congress of supporting. After this incident, a heavy Police force has been deployed in the area.

According to locals, the office was built on land forcibly taken from a shopkeeper. People had been angry about this for a long time. After the election results, an enthusiastic crowd called in bulldozers and removed the construction. Eyewitnesses called it ‘people’s justice’. Trinamool Congress leaders have called this bulldozer action inappropriate. This sudden action led to a stampede in the Hogg Market area.

Deadly attack on security forces in Sandeshkhali

The situation is very critical in Sandeshkhali of North 24 Parganas District. On the late night of May 5, unidentified persons opened indiscriminate fire on a Police and central force team patrolling in the Bamangheri area. In this, a total of 5 people, including the head of Nazat Police station, Bharat Purkait, a woman officer and 2 CRPF soldiers, were shot. All the injured have been admitted to a hospital in Kolkata.

TMC workers beat up a family for voting for the BJP

A family was attacked in the Baradih area of ​​Amdanga assembly constituency in North 24 Parganas District. The victim, Madan Morol, has alleged that he had voted for the BJP in the elections; out of anger, 40 to 50 Trinamool Congress goons attacked his house late at night. The house was vandalized and the family was beaten up. As soon as the information about the incident was received, local Police and central forces reached the spot. This incident caused immense anger among the locals.

Office of TMC leader Jehangir, who had threatened rape and murder, was vandalised and set on fire by a mob

Re-polling will be held in Falta in the South 24 Parganas District on May 21. Before that, a mob attacked, vandalised and set fire to the office of Trinamool Congress leader Jehangir Khan. They also removed the Trinamool flags and put up BJP flags there, and shouted slogans.

The villagers had alleged that Jahangir Khan had come to the village and threatened to kill them and rape women. This created an atmosphere of fear in the area.

EC demands the police report

The Election Commission has taken serious note of the incidents of vandalism and arson in various parts of the State. The Commission has sought a full report from the Police. The police have made it clear that they will not spare anyone who takes the law into their own hands.

Sharp weapons and ammunition were seized from TMC leader Salauddin Sardar’s office

Kolkata (Bengal) – Police raided the office of Trinamool Congress leader Salauddin Sardar at Ghutiari Sharif in Narayanpur in South 24 Parganas District. A large quantity of sharp weapons and ammunition were seized from the office premises. The Police had received information from intelligence agencies that weapons were hidden in the office.


Police recovered 18 sharp weapons from the spot. Police are investigating why such a large number of weapons were stored. Heavy Police forces have been deployed in the area.
