We will not start the war; Trump says

Trump calls off Pakistan visit of US officials meant for talks

American President Donald Trump

Washington DC (USA) – Peace talks between the United States and Iran have once again collapsed. A delegation led by Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, which had reached Pakistan, returned without meeting US officials. Angered by this, US President Donald Trump canceled the proposed Pakistan visit of Jared Kushner and special envoy Steve Witkoff. Trump said, “Canceling our officials’ visit to Pakistan does not mean that we will restart a war with Iran. No decision has been made yet about initiating war. Iran can contact us for talks whenever it wishes. However, it is not clear who is making decisions in Iran.”

Five-hour talks between Pakistan and Iran

Earlier, Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir held a five-hour meeting on 24 April with the Iranian delegation led by Abbas Araghchi at a hotel. It is reported that discussions included Iran’s conditions and its objections to US demands. Meanwhile, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Iran would not engage in forced negotiations with the United States under pressure or threats. He also emphasized the need for lifting restrictions on maritime transport.
