Pakistan’s Missile Programme Poses No Threat to the United States! – US Defence Secretary

  • US makes a U-turn on Pakistan!

  • Just three months ago, the US intelligence community had warned about Pakistan’s missile programme.

United States Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth

Singapore – US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has dismissed concerns that Pakistan’s missile programme poses a threat to the United States. He made the remarks during the ‘Shangri-La Dialogue’ held in Singapore. Hegseth’s statement is in sharp contrast to an assessment issued by the US intelligence community in March this year. That report had identified Pakistan’s long-range ballistic missile programme as a potential threat to the United States.

Then-Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard had named Pakistan alongside Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran while testifying before a congressional intelligence committee. She had said that these countries are developing missile technologies that could bring parts of US territory within their strike range.

Hegseth Praises Pakistan’s Military Leadership

Hegseth praised Pakistan’s military and civilian leadership too. He stated, “I mentioned India, but I could just as easily have mentioned Pakistan. The role being played by the Field Marshal and the Prime Minister in the peace talks is significant.”

In an earlier address, he had said that India is a powerful country that is modernising its armed forces. He also said that India is building substantial industrial capacity and infrastructure to sustain advanced military operations.
