Guwahati (Assam) – Following the defeat in the Bengal Assembly elections, internal dissent within the Trinamool Congress appears to be growing steadily. Now, Abhijit Majumdar, the Assam State President of the Trinamool Congress, has resigned from the party. Majumdar sent his resignation to the party’s National President Mamata Banerjee via email. He resigned not only from the post of State President but also from the party’s primary membership. He alleged that the Trinamool Congress has now effectively become the ‘Trinamool Muslim Congress’ and has turned into a party that works only for Muslims. He further claimed that no one who believes in Hindutva can remain in the party.

Trinamool leaders never speak in support of Hindus!

Majumdar said that he had been a member and secretary of the Assam Trinamool Congress since the party’s establishment. He had also served as the head of the party’s media cell and had contested elections from Guwahati this year. He alleged that in Assam, the party is more inclined towards Bangladeshis and Muslims. According to him, the party’s leaders never speak in support of Hindus. He said that, being a Hindu and having a particular ideology, it was not appropriate for him to remain in the party. He further remarked that no one in Assam now pays any attention to the Trinamool Congress.
