Chikballapur (Karnataka) – Recently, an outrageous incident had happened at Nagarjuna College here during the ‘Common Entrance Test’ (CET), wherein male students were made to remove janeu and female students were made to remove nose rings. Now, another student named Suprith K.R. has narrated an incident that happened to him at another centre. He said that on April 23rd, he reached the examination centre at Kripanidhi College at 9:45 a.m. Before entering the centre, the staff noticed that he was wearing a janeu. Though Suprith was ready to remove the janeu, the staff cut it off using scissors and threw it in the dustbin. The incident caused severe mental shock to him. His Upanayan ritual was held just 8 days ago. After the exam was over, he searched for the janeu in the dustbin and took it home.

The officer denies allegations

The Uniform Code Officer at the examination centre, Dodda Irappa, denied all these allegations. He said that students were verified at the centre as per the Karnataka Examination Department’s rules. We have not asked any student to remove his janeu, cut it off or threw it away. I don’t know why this student is making such allegations.

Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao angered

Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has expressed his anger over the janeu cutting incident. Posting on Facebook, the minister said, “I have come to know about the incident of cutting the janeu of a student during the CET exam at Kripanidhi College. A complaint has already been filed in this matter, and the Police are investigating it. Action will be taken in a transparent manner within the legal framework. Students and parents should not worry.”

Minister Gundu Rao further said,

1. The inhumane act of removing earrings, bangles, or janeu of students appearing for the CET examination, as well as cutting off their long sleeved, is inexcusable and condemnable. Examination centres should be places that test the knowledge of students. They should not be centres that undermine their self-esteem.

2. The government will take very serious steps to ensure that such incidents do not happen again in the State. Students should not get discouraged due to this incident. They should prepare well for the exams and move towards success in life with dedication and confidence. Our government stands firmly behind you. Face the exams with courage and succeed.

Editorial Perspective

  • Such incidents show that the Congress government in Karnataka is similar to the Razakars or Mughals ! Now Hindus should take to the streets and teach the government a lesson through legitimate means.
  • Can government employees ever think of cutting the skull caps of Muslim students or the cross around the necks of Christian students ? Hindus should keep this in mind and create such dominance.
