A Minor Girl Found Pregnant : School Teacher Arrested in Chitradurga (Karnataka)

Chitradurga (Karnataka) – A teacher in a school from Challakere in Chitradurga district trapped a sixteen year old girl student and sexually exploited her leading to the girl becoming pregnant. Later, the teacher made the student undergo abortion with the help of a lady doctor. A case has been filed and investigations are underway.

Rajanna, a maths teacher from primary section repeatedly raped the girl student in a classroom resulting in the girl getting pregnant. As the teacher came to know about it, he tried to suppress this issue. As planned by him, the girl was taken to Lakshmi Srinivasa Nursing Home in Challakere and Dr Shankar Lakshmi carried out the illegal abortion.

On getting information about the matter, a Child Welfare officer, Rekha lodged a complaint at Challakere Town Police station under ‘the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO), Act’. Teachers are exploiting the students showing that children are not safe even in schools. There is an outrage in the whole district over the incident.
