Case of defamatory statement against Swatantryaveer Savarkar

Pune – The Government did not delegate the title ‘Swatantryavee’ to Savarkar. The title ‘Swatantryaveer’ was first used by writer Sadashiv Ranade in his biography. Ranade gave this title out of his own imagination and liking. This title must have become popular with the public. I do not know whether there was any Government or institutional consent behind this, said Satyaki Savarkar, grandson of Swatantryaveer Savarkar, in the court. The defamation case against Rahul Gandhi was heard in the Pune special court. Satyaki made all these revelations while answering the questions asked by advocate Milind Pawar on behalf of Rahul Gandhi in the cross-examination. The cross- examination of Satyaki Savarkar will continue on April 13.

1. Satyaki Savarkar submitted several newspaper reports and a YouTube link to a video of Rahul Gandhi’s speech in London as evidence in his complaint.

2. He said in the complaint that Rahul Gandhi falsely accused Savarkar of writing a book describing the beating of a Muslim man. In fact, Savarkar never wrote such a book, and no such incident had ever happened.

3. Rahul Gandhi had made these false, hateful and baseless allegations with the specific intention of defaming Savarkar and tarnishing his reputation.

4. Rahul Gandhi had made controversial statements about Swatantryaveer Savarkar in his speech to NRIs in London.

5. Against this, Satyaki Savarkar filed a defamation suit against Rahul Gandhi in the court. Satyaki Savarkar demanded a stringent punishment for Rahul Gandhi and compensation for the defamation as well.
