Journalist Rana Ayyub’s Posts Derogatory and Communal : Delhi High Court

Asks Police to take action

New Delhi – Strongly raising objection, Delhi High Court has  observed that certain posts of journalist Rana Ayyub made through her ‘X’ account during the years 2013 to 2017 about Hindu Deities and Swatantryaveer Savarkar have been most derogatory, inflammatory and communal. The Court has issued notices to ‘X’ Corp, the Union Government and the Delhi Police to take joint action and asked for their responses. The next hearing will be held on 10.04.2026. A case has been filed against Rana Ayyub earlier as directed by the Court.

1. Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav has stated that the writings on social media have been most derogatory, inflammatory and communal.

2. The hearing has been held on the petition filed by advocate Amita Sachdeva. She had earlier demanded action under Criminal Law,  based on which the Court had directed to file FIR against Ayyub and asked the Police to conduct investigations. Delhi Police later informed the Court that the writings were presently not available on ‘X’.

What is the controversial writing ?

In 2013, Rana Ayyub had written ‘Ravan never touched Sita which he could have done. Ram never took a firm stand for Sita which he could have taken. Thus, in a way, she tried to glorify Ravan, making Ram look ordinary.

In 2015, there was a controversial statement by her about Swa. Savarkar. In 2026, she had published a photo of an injured boy criticising Indian army.
