A letter from the families of victims of last year’s Karnavati plane crash to the Prime Minister

Karnavati (Gujarat) – “We do not want money. We want to know the truth. We want to know why the accident happened and whether there was any technical fault. If the data from the ‘black box’ and ‘cockpit voice recorder’ cannot be made public, at least it should be shared privately with the families,” wrote the families of those who died in the Karnavati plane crash on 12 June 2025 in a letter to Prime Minister Modi. 30 victim families have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Copies of the letter were also sent to the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, Directorate General of Civil Aviation, and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. They are awaiting Air India’s response.
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau had submitted its preliminary investigation report into the crash in July last year. The final report is expected in June this year, close to the first anniversary of the accident.
The Boeing 787, flying from Karnavati to London, crashed into a medical college hostel shortly after takeoff. Among 241 passengers and 19 others, a total of 160 people died, including 60 foreign nationals.
