Programme of “anti-Hindu” comedian Nasif Akhtar in Bhagyanagar cancelled

Bhagyanagar (Telangana) — A programme of comedian Nasif Akhtar, who had allegedly made objectionable remarks about India, Brahmins, Hindu temples, and the concept of a Hindu nation, was scheduled to be held here on April 3. In opposition, activists of the Hindu Rashtra Samanvay Samiti lodged a complaint with the Deputy Commissioner of Police at Gachibowli Police Station. Following this, the police cancelled the programme.

Hindutva organisations had demanded that permission should not be granted for a programme that insults Hindu religion and India in the name of comedy. Earlier, a similar programme by Akhtar in Bengaluru was also cancelled after a complaint by the Hindu Rashtra Samanvay Samiti.

After the police denied permission for the programme in Bhagyanagar, Nasif Akhtar released a video stating that he is cancelling all his upcoming programmes in India.

Editorial Perspectives

How many such programmes will Hindus keep opposing ? Instead, the Central Government should enact a blasphemy law to strictly punish those who mock Hindu faith. Hindus must now put pressure on the government for this.

When will Hindus establish such a position that no one dares to insult their places of faith and India through any medium ?
