Mumbai – In the Cellular Jail of Andaman, Swatantryaveer Savarkar, his eldest brother Babarao Savarkar and all other revolutionaries were made to work out the manual oil mill press machine (Kolhu) instead of a bull. One had to press 30 pounds or 13 nad half to 14 litres of oil in 8 hours. If that quantity of oil was not met, then they were made to work out the oil press machine incessantly and also inhumane punishments were meted out. Notwithstanding this inhumane torture many revolutionaries like Indrabhushan Roy committed suicide and many bravehearts like Ulhaskar Datta lost their mental balance.
The unfathomable martyrdom and sacrifices of such innumerable revolutionaries, is what gave us the freedom. To co-experience their state, the Swatantryaveer Savarkar National Memorial has provided an opportunity for patriots to ride Kolhu. Those participating in the event will get an opportunity to ride the Kolhu for a maximum of 15 minutes. To at least have the slightest taste of the anguish of revolutionaries, kolhu needs to be worked out with feet shackled in heavy chains. The event will be held from 11 am to 7 pm on both, April 4 and 5 at the Swatantryaveer Savarkar National Memorial in Dadar. It has been requested to fill out the Google form and schedule an appointment to participate in this event. If you have any doubts about registration, you can contact 9220070386.
The memorial has informed that men should wear full trousers or women should wear salwars so that the feet are not injured.

To know about the real history of independence, there is an appeal to participate in the event with huge numbers. |
