UK–Pakistani ‘grooming gang’ gets paid ₹11 lakh to trap a Sikh girl

  • Sikh woman shares information through video

  • Muslim youths receive ₹5.5 lakh for targeting Hindu or Christian girls

  • Lured through relationships, followed by exploitation and then conversion

(“Grooming” refers to luring young girls or women, isolating them from family, and sexually exploiting them.)

London (UK) – In the United Kingdom, a “grooming gang” is reportedly being paid £10,000 (around ₹11 lakh) if a Sikh girl (referred to as “Kaur”) is converted into a Muslim (referred to as “Khan”). According to information shared on social media by Navdeep Singh, who posted a video of a young woman, a Pakistan-origin grooming gang is targeting non-Muslim girls, especially Sikh girls, as part of an organised effort.

In the video, the Sikh woman says that such gangs first emotionally connect with girls, then take them to expensive restaurants and in luxury cars, and once the girl is trapped, they force conversion. She also alleged that there are different “rates” for targeting girls from different religions. Converting a Sikh girl allegedly earns £10,000, while converting a Hindu or Christian girl brings about £5,000 (around ₹5.5 lakh).

Not all people of any religion are bad

The woman also clarified that the video is not against any religion or intended to target anyone. She stated that not all people of any religion are bad, but some individuals bring disrepute to the entire community.

BJP leader appeals to international organisations

Bharatiya Janata Party Punjab spokesperson Sarchand Singh appealed to international human rights organisations to treat this issue not merely as a religious matter, but as a global issue concerning women’s safety and dignity, and to take it seriously.

How the grooming gang operates

1. Target identification: Muslim youths from the grooming gang look for emotionally vulnerable girls in colleges, shopping malls, or public places—especially those with family conflicts, financial difficulties, or those studying abroad.

2. Changing identity and creating a false image: They reportedly adopt names matching the girl’s religion and present themselves as wealthy and liberal, using luxury cars and branded clothing to impress.

3. Taking them to restaurants and malls: The Muslim youths from the gang take girls to upscale places to build attraction and trust.

4. Showing love and attention: The girl is given intense attention, made to feel loved, and shown dreams of a future together, including promises of marriage.

5. Isolating from family: Gradually, distrust toward the girl’s family and religion is created so she becomes dependent on the individual.

6. Blackmail and exploitation: Once trapped, the girl is allegedly sexually exploited, and compromising photos or videos are used for blackmail.

7. Conversion: Finally, under pressure such as marriage or “security,” the girl is allegedly forced to convert, including changing her surname (e.g., from “Kaur” to “Khan”).

Editorial Perspectives

  • The United Kingdom is increasingly coming under the influence of Pakistani Muslim groups, and there will be an Islamic rule in the future. In order to stop this, Britishers and other faiths must organise and resist such developments.
  • Similar to awareness efforts in India, films highlighting such issues (e.g. The Kerala Story 2) should be widely shown to young women in the UK to create awareness.
