Kabul, Afghanistan – Pakistan launched overnight airstrikes on March 12 at multiple locations, including the Afghan capital Kabul. The attacks left four people dead and at least 15 injured. A spokesperson for the Taliban government said Pakistani forces bombed fuel reserves at a private aviation facility near Kandahar Airport. Officials indicated that Afghanistan may respond strongly to the strikes.
Pakistan said the operation targeted militants associated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). According to sources, the Pakistani military claimed it had accurately struck bases belonging to the group.
Afghanistan dismisses accusations of backing TTP
Pakistan has alleged that Afghanistan is providing shelter to militants of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), who have been blamed for a number of attacks in Pakistan. Afghanistan, however, has dismissed these accusations. The Taliban government maintained that Afghan soil is not permitted to be used to carry out attacks against any other country.
