
Guwahati (Assam) – After a Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the decision to rename the Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College located in Barpeta. The institution will henceforth be known as Barpeta Medical College and Hospital.
Sarma clarified that Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed had served as the President of India and was the first person from Assam to reach that position. Therefore, the government will name another important institution after him as a mark of respect.
The decision to rename the hospital was taken keeping in mind local identity and administrative clarity.
