Renaming of 3 cities in Rajasthan: Mount Abu to Abu Raj, Jahazpur to Yagyapur, Kaman to Kama Van

Jaipur (Rajasthan) – The Rajasthan Government has announced the renaming of three cities. Mount Abu has been renamed Abu Raj, Jahazpur has been renamed Yagyapur and Kaman has been renamed Kama Van. The announcement was made by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma during the discussion on the State budget in the Legislative Assembly. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said that the decision has been taken keeping in mind the demand of local citizens, historical context and cultural significance. An official notification in this regard will soon be issued, and the process of renaming will be completed.

Congress opposes

Rajasthan Congress General Secretary Swarnim Chaturvedi alleged that it is more important to strengthen basic facilities like roads, water, health and employment in these cities than changing names. The Government is taking such decisions to divert attention from the real issues. (In fact, changing the names given by the oppressive Muslims and the British to Indian cities should have been done immediately after independence; however, the Congress, which was an ideological slave of the Mughals and the British, did not want to do it. Now when the BJP is doing it, the Congress is hurt. It has become necessary to free India from Congress – Editor).

Editorial Perspective

Instead of changing names one by one, why isn’t an order issued to change all names in a single order at the national level ?
