Anakapalle (Andhra Pradesh) –  There is a ‘Gauri-Parameshwar’ temple on the side of Kunchavari Road. ‘Halim Kendra’, an unauthorised restaurant serving non-veg food, was opened next to the temple. As the issue was brought to light, agitation was staged, led by Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s city-president Suravarapati Tataji, demanding immediate removal of the restaurant. The agitation was going on for many days. A memorandum was also submitted on behalf of the Municipal Commissioner to the concerned officer, Anantham Kartikeya. Later, the administration promised to remove the hotel and took action. VHP’s district president Dwarapudi Parameswar Rao, Hare Krishna Temple Committee’s President Durlabh Krishna Premdasji, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti’s J Janardan, Gudisa Murali and other devout Hindu activists were responsible for the successful outcome of the agitation.

Editorial Perspectives

  • Congratulations to devout Hindu organisations for forcing action against a restaurant that was trying to destroy the sanctity of the temple. Such Hindus are the true strength of Hindu Dharma !
  • How can Muslims set up a non-vegetarian restaurant near a Hindu temple? It shows their total disregard for Hindus’ religious sentiments and lack of fear of the government administration. It may be noted that, as per the 2011 census, the Hindu population is 97% in Anakapalle village; so, it is even more shameful for local Hindus.
