Warsaw (Poland) – Prime Minister Narendra Modi persuaded Russian leader Vladimir Putin to not use nuclear weapons in the war in Ukraine, according to Poland’s Deputy Foreign Minister Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski.

In an interview, Bartoszewski said that Poland was “grateful” for India’s involvement in the war between Russia and Ukraine.

“We had a great visit of PM Modi to Warsaw. PM Modi did persuade Putin not to use nuclear tactical weapons. We want permanent peace. We want stable and sustainable peace in Ukraine,” said Bartoszewski.

Bartoszewski said that:

The role India is playing in the world today cannot be ignored. Poland attaches great importance to its relations with India and views India as a responsible global power.

Compared to other countries, India has concluded a more advantageous trade agreement with the United States. India is an extremely large economic power. In terms of Gross Domestic Product, India ranks fourth globally, and Prime Minister Modi has clearly stated the goal of reaching third place soon. With an estimated population of 1.5 billion, India is a vast and advanced market. Ignoring a country with such potential would not be wise. Our relations with India are very good.
