Ban on women using contraceptive pills in Afghanistan

Kabul (Afghanistan) – The Taliban government has imposed a ban on the use of contraceptive pills for women. Doctors have been threatened that their clinics will be shut down if contraceptive pills are provided to women. As a result, it is being reported that many clinics have voluntarily closed down. In one clinic in Badghis province, all contraceptive medicines were destroyed.

A doctor from Jawzjan province stated that since the Taliban came to power, stocks of contraceptive pills have been rapidly depleting. Out of 70 women patients, 30 required these medicines. Now, we are forced to tell them that we do not have the medicines available.
