Pokhran (Rajasthan) – Rajasthan Police’s Intelligence Department has arrested a local youth from the Pokhran region of Jaisalmer district, located close to the Pakistan border, on charges of spying for Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI. The accused is alleged to have transmitted highly sensitive, war-related confidential information concerning the Indian Army to Pakistan.

1.Additional Director General of Intelligence, Prafulla Kumar, stated that security agencies are maintaining constant surveillance on the activities of Pakistani intelligence networks operating within the state. During this period, the movements of Jabararam (aged 28), a resident of Nedan village in Pokhran tehsil, were found to be suspicious. Investigations revealed that the accused was in regular contact with Pakistani handlers (agents acting on behalf of ISI).

2.Serious revelations emerged during the investigation and technical analysis of the accused’s mobile phone. Pakistani intelligence agencies had trapped him through a ‘honey trap;’ a tactic involving emotional manipulation through a woman; and lured him with financial incentives. Succumbing to these temptations, the accused began sharing sensitive information related to the Indian Army with Pakistan.

3.Police brought Jabararam to the Central Investigation Centre in Jaipur, where a joint interrogation was conducted by Rajasthan Police, military intelligence, and other security agencies. After the offence was confirmed, Rajasthan Police formally registered a case against him and placed him under arrest.
