Moscow (Russia) – The issue of Greenland will be resolved among the United States and its NATO allies (the 29-nation military alliance). What happens to Greenland has nothing to do with us, Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated. Putin also expressed sympathy for the residents of Greenland. He clarified Russia’s position in the context of former US President Trump’s efforts to bring Greenland under American control.
Denmark has always treated Greenland like its own colony !
Putin said that, in reality, Denmark has always treated Greenland like its own colony, and although its conduct may not have been cruel, it has certainly been quite harsh. However, he added that this is a completely different issue, and at present he does not think anyone is particularly interested in it. It is not a matter of concern for Russia. He believes they will resolve the issue among themselves.
On this occasion, Putin also recalled that Denmark sold the Virgin Islands to the United States in 1917, and that Russia sold Alaska to the United States in 1867.
