Trump Imposes 10% Tariff on 8 European Countries opposing the US over Greenland

Washington, DC (USA): U.S. President Donald Trump has announced another round of punitive tariffs, this time against eight European nations, for opposing his desire to acquire Greenland. In a post on his Truth Social on Saturday, President Trump announced that the United States will impose a 10% tariff on goods from Denmark and seven other European countries starting 1st February 2026, with an increase to 25% by 1st June unless a deal is reached for the “Complete and Total purchase” of the Danish autonomous territory.

The other seven countries are Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland, all of which have issued statements supporting Denmark’s territorial right over Greenland.

Trump announced, “Starting on February 1st 2026, all of the above mentioned Countries (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, The United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and Finland), will be charged a 10% Tariff on any and all goods sent to the United States of America. On 1st June 2026, the Tariff will be increased to 25%.”
