These days, ‘Zumba dance’ workouts are becoming very popular in many countries around the world. Currently, ‘Zumba dance’ classes are held in 180 countries around the world. ‘Zumba Dance’ combines aerobics (a type of exercise done to increase the amount of oxygen in the body), Western music, and Western dance. This type of exercise originates from the country of Colombia. Doing Zumba dance gives a full body workout. Also, doing this type of exercise helps in losing body fat, making the body slimmer, reducing mental fatigue, increasing self-confidence, etc., say experts in Zumba dance.

A ‘Zumba Dance’ Instructor visited the Ramnathi ashram and demonstrated ‘Zumba Dance’ exercises. A study was conducted at Sanatan’s Ramnathi ashram  (Goa) in November 2019 to scientifically study the effect Zumba dance exercises have on a person spiritually. A scientific device called Universal Aura Scanner (UAS ) was used for this study. The interpretation, conclusions and spiritual analysis of the observations in this study are given ahead.

Note – From here on in the article, the ‘Zumba dance’ exercise is referred to as ‘Zumba exercise’.

1. Interpretation of observations in the study 

‘Zumba Dance’ combines aerobics

In this study, a Zumba dance instructor taught Zumba exercises to seekers with and without spiritual distress. UAS readings were taken before and after the Zumba  exercises. The effects of Zumba exercise on Zumba instructors and seekers with and without spiritual problems are presented below.

The points given ahead are apparent from the above table.

1. After Zumba exercise, negative energy aura in the Zumba instructor decreased. (The reason for this is given in the point ‘3 e 1’.) No positive energy aura was found in the Zumba instructor.

2. After Zumba exercise, negative energy aura increased in the seekers with severe spiritual distress. Positive energy was not found in them.

3. After Zumba exercise, negative energy aura in the seeker with no spiritual distress increased and his positive energy aura was nullified.

2. Conclusion: Zumba exercise negatively affected the seekers with and without spiritual distress.

3. Spiritual analysis of the observations in the study

3 A. Zumba exercise emits distressing vibrations : Exercise is expected to reduce or eliminate any distressing energy stored in the body and create or increase positive energy in the body. For example, Surya Namaskar, yoga asanas, pranayama, etc. provide such benefits. The  body movements performed while performing Zumba exercises which are not sattvik, as well as the combination of Western music and dance with the exercises, resulted in the emission of distressing vibrations from Zumba exercises. This had negative effects on seekers with and without spiritual distress.

3 B. Zumba exercise has negative effects on seekers with and without spiritual distress

3 B 1. Seekers with severe spiritual distress : The seekers with severe spiritual distress in the study had negative energy aura before exercise. After doing the Zumba exercise, it was observed that the negative energy aura in them increased. The reason for this is that the distressing vibrations emitted from the Zumba exercise awakened and activated the centres of negative energies in the seekers’ bodies, and they absorbed the vibrations emitted from the Zumba exercise, resulting in a covering around them.

3 B 2. The seeker with no spiritual distress : Before exercise, the seeker had both positive and negative energies. The vibrations emitted from the Zumba exercise created distressing vibrations in the seeker’s body and increased the cover surrounding him, while also draining his positive energy.

3 C. Distress experienced by the seekers in the study : All the three seekers in the study experienced the covering of the distressing vibrations around them having increased after doing the Zumba exercise. They experienced headache, fatigue and mental discomfort.

3 D. The spiritual reasoning behind the fact that after Zumba exercise, there was no increase in the negative energy in the Zumba instructor, rather there was a decrease in her negative energy aura while an increase in the negative energy aura in other seekers : ‘Zumba exercise’ is a raja-tama predominant exercise for two reasons. The accompanying music during Zumba exercise is extremely raja-tama predominant. The distressing vibrations emitted from this music, forms  a distressing covering, around the individual’s body, mind and intellect. Also, this exercise type is not sattvik so after doing this exercise along with the Western music, a distressing covering is created in and around an individual’s body.  Zumba’s music and exercise emit illusory vibrations, so listening to the music gives a person an illusive feeling of happiness and enthusiasm for doing Zumba exercises. While doing Zumba exercises,  there was a battle at the subtle dimension between the distressing energy troubling the Zumba instructor and the Divine consciousness (Chaitanya) present in the ashram. In this subtle battle, a large amount of the distressing  energy of the instructor was expended, reducing the distressing energy within the instructor. From this we understand that, since Chaitanya is active in the ashram, if a  raja-tama predominant action is performed, the amount of raja-tama attributes in that action reduces, and if an action is performed that is Sattva predominant, for example, dancing Bharatanatyam, then Sattvikta increases to a great extent. Dancing Bharatanatyam increases Sattvik energy to a great extent. If the instructor had performed the Zumba exercise outside the ashram, that is at another venue, the negative energy in her would have increased to a large extent. Since the Zumba instructor was a visitor to the ashram, when she came to the ashram, there was an effect of the ashram’s Chaitanya on her.

The seekers who performed the Zumba exercises were from the ashram itself, so the ashram’s Chaitanya did not have a different effect on them. They were affected by the distressing energy emitted only from the Zumba exercise. The amount of  negative energy covering around those seekers increased as the distressing energies already troubling those seekers with severe spiritual distress absorbed the black energy emitted through the accompanying music and exercise.’

In short, ‘Distressing vibrations are emitted from Zumba exercise. Due to these distressing vibrations, the individuals doing the Zumba exercises were spiritually negatively affected’. This became apparent from this scientific study.’
