Indian Courts seem to be working under Govt pressure since ‘Babri’ and ‘talaq’ verdicts : Maulana Mahmood Madani

Maulana Mahmood Madani is the President of ‘Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind’

(Maulana is an Islamic scholar)

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) – Judging by the verdicts given by the Courts on Babri mosque and triple talaq, it seems that the Courts are working under pressure from the Government, said Maulana Mahmood Madani, President of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, at a meeting of the Jamiat’s governing body here. Many verdicts given by the Courts clearly violated the rights granted to minorities by the Constitution. The action taken in some cases, despite the provisions of the ‘Places of Worship Act, 1991’, is a clear example of that violation, Madani added.

Madani’s statements

Until the Constitution exists, the Supreme Court can be called ‘Supreme’

The Supreme Court can be called ‘Supreme’ only as long as the Constitution is secure; otherwise, it has no right to that name.

Singing Vande Mataram out of fear is the identity of a dying community

Communities that surrender to fear lose themselves. Starting to say ‘Vande Mataram’ just because someone told them to do so is the hallmark of a dying community. It is like losing self-confidence. If there is a society that is alive, it has to face the situation. (After the invasion of the country by foreign Muslim invaders, many Hindus converted to Islam out of fear. Today, their descendants say that raising the slogans of ‘Vande Mataram’ means fear. What a joke ! – Editor). The Muslim community should stay away from despair. Despair is poisonous to any community. (How did Madani discover that Muslims are in despair ? – Editor).

Where there is oppression, there is Jihad

1. The Government and the media are presenting a holy word in the wrong manner. ‘Jihad’ is being defamed by attaching various labels to it. (It is not the Government and the media that are defaming, but Muslims themselves. Instead of accepting this, Madani is blaming others. Hence, he should be called a major Jihadi figure – Editor).

2. Jihad has always been sacred and has been prescribed for the benefit of others. Where there are atrocities, there will be Jihad. (If this is the case, then Madani should explain which atrocities Islamic terrorist organisations are facing that they are waging Jihad against India and the world – Editor).

3. There is no reason to talk about Jihad in India, which is a secular and democratic system. Muslims here are loyal to the Constitution. (Does Madani want to say that doctors in Kashmir, who recently carried out a terrorist attack, are loyal to the Constitution? – Editor).

4. Jihad is not a form of personal revenge and can only be decided by a Government governed by religious law. Words like Love Jihad, Land Jihad and Spit Jihad are insulting to Muslims. (This insult is not done by other religions, but by Muslims themselves by doing such actions. Madani does not utter a word against them. This clearly shows that he supports it – Editor).

5. Opponents of Islam have presented Jihad as a means of violence. In Islam, Jihad is considered a sacred duty for Muslims. (Madani should give an example of when and where any Muslim has done or is doing such holy Jihad – Editor).

6. It is the responsibility of the Government to protect the rights of citizens, and if it is not observed, the fault lies with the Government.

Muslims should reach 60% of the country’s population

Currently, 10% of the people in the country are in favour of Muslims, 30% are against them, and 60% are neutral. Muslims should communicate with this peaceful section and make their position clear, because if this same section turns against them, a serious crisis can arise.

It is not right to impose ‘Vande Mataram’ on the entire country: Maulana Saadatullah Hussaini, President of ‘Jamaat-e-Islami Hind’

Maulana Saadatullah Hussaini, President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, said on Maulana Madani’s statements that it is unwise to create a controversy on a topic like ‘Vande Mataram’. Every person has the right to live according to their faith and express patriotism in their own way. It is not right to impose a single slogan on the entire country.

Editorial Perspectives

  • Muslims are making such allegations against the Courts as certain legal verdicts were against them. The people feel that the Court should take note of this and order action.
  • Such statements are an attempt to show distrust and contempt for the Indian judicial system, which is a pillar of democracy. Therefore, a case of sedition should be registered against such maulanas, and they should be put in jail.
