J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah supports terrorists in the controversy over the admission of Muslim students in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Medical College

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) – ‘When students go to a medical institute, they do not look at the name, or where the funds come from, they only think about education. They dream of becoming doctors. If such students are denied admission based on religion and they turn to radicalism by attending Al-Falah University instead, then who will be responsible for it ?’ asked Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Pro-Hindu organisations are opposing the admission of Muslim students in the medical college of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Trust in Jammu. In this context, Abdullah asked this question to these organisations. He further said, ‘If the purpose of the institution was to reserve seats for a particular community, then why was it not given minority status at the time of its establishment? If the status had been given, there would have been no controversy.’ He was talking to reporters here. (If Abdullah is saying that doing so can result in a ban on Muslim students entering there, then now Hindus should demand such a status – Editor).
The admission process is based only on qualifying exams
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that the admission process is based only on ‘NEET’ (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. This exam is mandatory for admission to medical colleges), and other qualifying exams; religion is not considered in it. If an institution does not want students from a particular community, then it should be declared a ‘minority institution’. Then, Muslim and Sikh students will leave that college and take admission elsewhere. (No one will oppose Sikhs as they are not different from Hindus. Abdullah should not differentiate between Hindus and Sikhs. He should not consider Muslims and Sikhs as one – Editor).
Admission based on merit
Omar Abdullah pointed out that those who have been admitted have been admitted based on merit. (The Muslim doctors at Al-Falah University also had merit, but they used it for Jihadi terrorism and committed treason – Editor). They can be admitted elsewhere, but the entire community should not be blamed. It is not right to blame the community as a whole for an incident.
