Uttar Pradesh Government’s drive against noise pollution

  • Police remove loudspeakers from 40 mosques in Lakshmanpur area

  • Temples too included in the campaign – Over one lakh loudspeakers removed across the State so far

Lakshmanpuri (Uttar Pradesh) – The Uttar Pradesh Police have intensified their ongoing campaign to remove unauthorised loudspeakers from religious places as part of the State Government’s drive against noise pollution. In the Lakshmanpur area, loudspeakers have been taken down from around 40 mosques.

Police officials informed the Imams that the use of loudspeakers without permission is a legal violation and a major source of sound pollution. A police team visited the Golaganj Mosque in Wazirganj and asked the Imam to remove the loudspeakers installed at a considerable height, which were then dismantled with police assistance. The team later proceeded to the Malka Jamani Mosque and another mosque on Guin Road, where loudspeakers were similarly removed.

After completing action at the mosques, the police also visited the Batuk Bhairav Temple and removed the loudspeakers mounted on its rooftop.

The Yogi Government has been conducting this State-wide drive since 2022 to curb noise pollution emanating from religious establishments. So far, over one lakh loudspeakers have been removed from various religious sites across Uttar Pradesh.
