Istanbul (Turkiye) – According to reports, the meeting, held in Istanbul (Turkiye) to discuss a possible ceasefire, turned tense when Taliban representatives warned Pakistan against any military misadventure. “Any attack on Afghan soil will invite severe retaliation,” Taliban spokesperson told Tolo News. “If Pakistan dares to use nuclear weapons, Islamabad itself will be destroyed.”
1. Sources present at the talks revealed that while the Afghan delegation seemed committed to peace and stability, the Pakistani representatives displayed little seriousness. Instead, they reportedly demanded that other Islamic nations guarantee Pakistan’s security, a condition the Taliban rejected outright.
2. The Taliban delegation clarified that the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) attacks are Pakistan’s internal issue and that the Afghan government has “no connection whatsoever” with those operations.
3. The Taliban’s tone was unusually aggressive. Ironically, India, despite being a nuclear-armed State constantly battling terrorism, has never issued such open threats to its neighbours. It seems, that India could learn something from the Taliban’s fervour in defending its sovereignty.
