
Haveri (Karnataka) – Four Muslim youths brutally assaulted and murdered a Hindu shopkeeper over a trivial issue at Rattihalli in Haveri district. The accused struck him on the chest with a stone and assaulted his private parts. The deceased has been identified as Shivajirao Bayroji (60).
Shivajirao owned a small roadside shop. On the night of 1 July, his son Bharat was managing the shop when Wasim Mulla purchased five eggs and paid ₹100. He then claimed that he had actually given a ₹500 note and demanded the remaining change, leading to an argument. When Shivajirao intervened to resolve the dispute, the accused struck him on the chest with a stone. All four Muslim youths participated in the attack.
A case has been registered at the Rattihalli Police Station against Wasim Mulla, Sarfaraz Mulla, Sadiq Mulla and Shiraz Mulla. Shivajirao’s son lodged a complaint stating, “The accused assaulted and murdered my father.” The accused are absconding.
